Hill Country

We navigated up curvy mountain roads to Nuwara Eliya, home of the highest tea plantations in Sri Lanka. They proudly claim, “we produce PROBABLY the cleanest and the best teas in the world”. We admire the humility and honesty of the slogan. Gary teaches a seminar on chocolate, wine, coffee, and tea, so he was all ears in learning more about the production of tea. He also wanted to post up and vogue for a few extra tea plucking and manufacturing snapshots to really amp up his powerpoint presentation for next semester. For all of those tea drinkers out there—appreciate the tea! The lady tea leaf pluckers work very hard for your morning cup. Besides tea tours, we wandered through the countryside admiring the beautifully organized vegetable gardens and farms, hiked to a waterfall, checked out the street food, and enjoyed the simplicity of a nature break to reset our souls. Only tea leaves will “wither” on this journey.
